Windsurfing: Wells Next the Sea Wind Direction: n Wind Stength: 17/24 Surf / Sea State: flat to surf Air Temperature: 18 Sea Temperature: 17 Weather: cloudy Max Speed: 29.71 (knots - unless stated otherwise) Distance Covered: 21 (Nautical Miles - unless stated otherwise)
Had the most wonderful weekend :) firstly biking in Thetford Forest and
walking on the beach at Well with not a breath of wind and not a clould in
the sky on Saturday. Then on Sunday wake to 20 kt north winds and no sign of
the sun. Arrived at the carpark at Wells for breakfast at 9 to find the
carpark filling up already and still no sign of any water !!! With the wind
gauge reading winds between 17 an 24 kts went with the 6.4 and big fin but
might have been better with the smaller fin or bigger sail !!! but as
really flat water was hard to find I don't think it made alot of
difference.Spent alot of time trying some fast runs on the far side of the
channel in front of the lifeboat shed ,speeds were okay but nothing special
but it was lumpy :( I then had a beat out in the open sea and had a play in
the rolling surf with the wave sailers out with 5m sails, abit underpowered
by now :( So three hours out with up to 50 other windsurfers - thats the
most I've seen for years even if the average age was 50 !!! A top spot even
if this direction is not great for speed, will take the wave board mext time
!!! Also the people were so'oooo friendly - so next time you Felixstowe
sailers get a n to nw and can't sail at Felixstowe it's worth the trip up
to North Norfolk for a day of a mix of surf and flatwater sailing making
sure you have a midday tide first !!!!
